Different ways of pissing people off

(FYI, this one is kind of long)

It’s been ages since I’ve been involved in a city defense. They simply haven’t happened that often at the times I usually play.

As a result of that, yesterday kinda found me in the mood to do it when Caledor fell to the enemy and the gates of the Inevitable City were once more vulnerable to the armies of The Emperor.

All in all the defense showed promise even before it started, as we managed to put together a full alliance warband, (well, almost full. there were 2 spots left) but unfortunately the first instance was kind of a disappointment.

The place was completely empty when we got there.

Eventually some order arrived, and we got somewhat excited with the supposed battle that was about to happen.

Unlucky for us (but even more unlucky were the orders) the ones that arrived were mostly alts, and a large part was bellow rank 40.

End result: after beating the Sigmar out of those guys twice, they simply left, leaving behind only Koplinsky and an Engineer(I’m sorry Engineer dood. I can’t really remember who you were) that had enough good spirit to embrace the situation they were in, and decided to come out in the last stage completely naked.

If you two are reading this, I tip my hat to both of you for how you decided to roll last night (instead of just trying to hide in the safe zone, like I’ve seen so many people do, in order to fuck up the entire stage). Good show lads. Good show.

After that somewhat unfulfilling city instance, our warband went for another go.

Now, this is where the real story begins, whatever I wrote before was just the result of my OCD preventing me from not ranting and keeping a story simple.

This second instance that we got into was looking like a real mess. It was at the end of the first stage, with all flags controlled by Order, and a dragon hitting our Palace door.

We rushed to the door to find it at a mere 10%.

Now, I don’t know what the others thought, but in my mind the future of that stage wasn’t bright at all. I could see us rushing to the door, killing the cannons and the dragon, and all of a sudden having a bunch of Order coming from behind and smashing face. Of course, we could just make things right during the second stage, but to start off losing kinda breaks the mood, if you know what I mean.

And that’s exactly what didn’t happen.

For twenty minutes we ran back and forth the pathway that leads to the Palace door, killing a shit ton of dwarven cannoneers and offing the Sun Dragon several times, even before it managed to touch the floor. A couple of times some Order approached the pathway and were properly dismembered.

Now, for us, it was pretty funny. We were just out of a first instance, so, everyone in our group was locked out of stage 1 loot bags, and we managed to piss some people off. Those guys thought they had the whole thing in the bag. Empty instance, door almost down. It was guaranteed loot. But all of a sudden a bunch of Destro wankers just had to go in and fuck with their plans completely.

I think Bootae and Luranni explained the situation pretty good when they each twitted the following:

@Luranni: #warhammeronline just spent 25 minutes of our lives achieving NOTHING except denying order lootz - we’re all locked out anyway :P.

@Bootae_MMO: Our alliance just proved that whilst realm pride maybe dead, being an utter shit towards the enemy out of spite is alive and kicking.

If you ask me, we kinda trolled those guys to the max, simply denying them loot that was oh so close.

But on the other hand, it WAS a city defense. And we WERE defending our capital (well, not mine. I’m an orc. but I buy shit from there and they store my items, so, I kinda like the place.) Even though we most definitely pissed off a bunch of people, it’s to be expected that there will be fighting in a city defense.

Now, for the second reason of this post:

After the city defense, I went for some PUG scenarios just to collect a little currency before going to bed.

After about 5 minutes of queue time, Mourkain Temple popped and I promptly joined. In retrospect, I should have just gone to bed, as that scenario was shaite.

The thing consisted mainly of Order spawn camping us.

But when I say spawn camping I don’t mean “they were right at the exit of our spawn point, offing everyone”.

What I mean is, 3 widely known Order players (I am not gonna mention names. They have been reported by everyone, and I have a bunch of screenshots to send Mythic’s way) decided that the best way to win that thing was to exploit the terrain and run up the hill right into our spawning area.

To make it even more “balanced”, guards did nothing. The 3 of them were just running through the guards, completely unharmed.

I think it’s understandable if I say that I prefer to win scenarios than to lose them. But on the other hand, I wasn’t exactly expecting to win many, considering I was puging. And you can always learn a thing or two with every loss.

But it outright pisses me off when the difference between wining and losing depends not on skill but on exploits.

Cheers.
